Hearing Aids Cost - Finding Affordable Solutions

There are many different factors that come into play when determining how much hearing aids cost. First, you will have to determine which kind you want. This includes choosing between larger or smaller models, digital or old-style analog hearing aids, and whether or not you need the cheapest solution that you can find.

You're obviously not going to get top-of-the-line equipment if you can't afford it. However, there are many great solutions to help alleviate the costs and get you the hearing aids that you need.

Hearing aids cost enough as it is. However, that's not the only price tag that you should worry about. You also have to factor in the medical exam, tests, adjustments, warranties, services, and other elements. Every different hearing aid facility has their own rates on these things, as well as the actual costs of the hearing aids themselves.

Once you have taken the time to get a medical exam and all the necessary testing, then you are given the chance to choose which hearing aids you want to buy. Here's a tip: if you have insurance, get them to pay for anything that you can. Even if they only cover the costs of the tests and exam, that will still cut your expenses down.

Hearing aids cost a lot of money, but if you take the time to consider your options and see what's out there, you should be able to find what you need. Some places will set up payment plans with you, which allows you to get the medical devices that you need while still being able to afford them.

Other times, you might opt for a less advanced, older style of hearing aid simply because they are cheaper and still effective. The latest technology is great, but if the older styles still work, what's the problem?

There is also the stigma attached to having hearing aids, which is the ultimate factor for many people. So many people could benefit from these great devices, but very few actually wear them because they are embarrassed.

If your quality of life and hearing abilities are improved, it shouldn't matter what people think, really. Take the time to accept that this is an improvement to your life, and check out how much different hearing aids cost so that you can get the best pair for your needs...

Winning Euromillions Lottery Prizes Every Week, Without Buying Tickets

Join a mathematician, internet technology, network marketing, the visionof two business man´s, register it in the Lotteries Council, and the lottery players will win euromillions lottery prizes each and every draw, without buying tickets.

Tom Brodie, with a successful 12 years background in sales, marketing, database development and internet marketing, partnered with Len Fitzgerald, who opened one of the first-ever video rental stores in the UK in1984, founded the e-lottery Syndicate in April 2002.

They thought, since there isn't a single person in the world, who wouldn't like to win a fortune in the lottery, why not finding a way, to help as many people as possible, achieving their dreams.

They hired a university Professor of Mathematics, brainstormed how they could achieve their purpose, and ended up with a syndicate system, that boost the odds in advantage of the lottery players. People playing with their syndicate system, will have a significant advantage over the regular player who plays alone. They will have greater possibilities of winning the jackpots, and will win more prizes and money.

Their system allows people from all over the world, to play two of the richest tax free lotteries in the world, the United Kingdom National Lotto, and EuroMillions, the european lottery.

Each syndicate player receives a fixed set of numbers, and due to the syndicate system it's only necessary to hit one number to receive prizes, in Euromillions.

The advantage of playing in the syndicates is a massive 3600% greater chance of scooping a EuroMillions jackpot! The chances of having any prize jump to only 1 in 10. They applied network marketing to the system, and each member that presents the e-syndicate to five other people, will start playing for free. After that will receive commissions for each additional member, and will receive an additional set of numbers, for free, for each group of new 15 members.

And here is the "trick" for winning euromillions lottery prizes every week, without buying tickets.

In Euromillions, syndicate players receive a fixed set of five numbers, and if only one of the numbers comes out in a draw, a prize is received by the syndicate. Since there are a total of fifty main numbers, from one to fifty, players, who have more than ten sets of numbers will cover the all range of numbers, and in the worst scenario, will match each draw number, from 5 different set of numbers and syndicates, and five prizes will be won.

Buying a Second Hand Guitar.

If you are on a budget, but still want to buy a decent guitar, you should look into purchasing a used guitar. For little money you can buy a quality guitar that will be able to suit all of your needs.

Used Fender basses or used Fender Stratocaster guitars can be had for relatively cheap compared with buying a new one. This is the route that a lot of people go when they are looking for their first guitar. The best place to find a used guitar is at a music store that is specialized in selling second hand equipment. If you can't find a store like this in your area, you may also want to search the internet. There are hundreds of online stores that sell used instruments.

Used, cheap electric guitars are also a top seller. Brands like Ibanez, Squier or Epiphone can be found for very little money. Used Gibson guitars or a second hand Fender Stratocaster will cost you probably more, but will still save you a lot of money. In return you will get a top quality guitar which will last you a very, very long time!

You may also be able to find used guitars at a flea market or garage sale. The best way to go about doing this is find a large flea market in your area, and frequent it as often as possible. You will eventually come across what you are looking for.

Many people have also turned to eBay in order to find a second hand guitar. EBay offers hundreds of guitars that you can bid on. The best thing about using this service is that you can keep an eye on each listing, and only purchase what you can afford.

A used guitar can be a great buy for anybody that is just learning, or anybody who simply wants a new guitar. In most cases you can buy a second hand guitar for half the price it would cost you when buying it brand new. Ok it probably will have some scratches on it, but the quality and the sound of the instrument will still remain the same and that's what counts!

If you know where to look, and stay persistent you should not have any problems at all finding a guitar that suits your needs. Remember, stay patient until you find the guitar that suits your needs and fits your budget.

Greg Reyes a Trustworthy Person

Thank you for taking the time to consider this letter on behalf of Mr. Greg Reyes. I have been a Law Enforcement Officer for the past twenty years and have held positions throughout my tenure at local, state and federal levels. I recently retired as a Commander with the California Department of Justice. I have conducted thousands of investigations at both State and Federal levels and have been awarded many prestige's awards by two of the Directors of FBI. I have been awarded the highest honor from the Hispanic Command Officers Association for my dedication to law enforcement and my out standing leadership ( The Gil Pompa Award from Washington D.C.) I inform you this because I do not take writing a letter as this lightly.

I know this task that lies ahead of you is one you will belabor over for many hours, days and months. I have known Mr. Greg Reyes for approximately l4yrs. Needless to say I am shocked at the verdict on the case Mr. Reyes stood trial for. I have personally known Mr. Reyes and his family for 14 years. I have been involved in numerous community events and sports with Mr. Reyes, his wife Penny and their two children. Mr. Reyes has always maintained an impeccable reputation. I personally invested a considerable amount of my hard earned money into Brocade; knowing Mr. Reyes only had the stock holder’s best interest at hand and knowing his strong sense of integrity I did not hesitate to invest.

I hope you will show compassion when sentencing this case, and sentence him appropriately according to the case. I have been the case agent on cases where the drug trafficker who is personally gaining and destroying our youth have faced fewer years.

Four Power System Problems Common in Colocation Facilities

The primary factor that determines uptime for servers in a colocation facility is power. Power outages will knock a network offline and even damage hardware such as motherboards, memory, and hard drives. Despite how intrinsic power is to keeping businesses connected to their networks, only 2% to 3% of colocation facilities have the right power systems in place. The other 97% of facilities most commonly lack redundancy, multiple units carry the energy load even if one unit fails, or have units that are running above capacity, so a unit failure will cause the other units to overload and fail. Every part of the power system – uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), transfer switches or circuit breakers, generators, and power distribution units (PDU) – should be redundant and running below capacity.

Problem 1: Non-redundant Power Grids
Multiple PDUs connected to separate power grids and multiple UPSs should be designed into the colocation facility to offset a power grid failure. Colocation facilities with redundant power grids can connect customer servers to different grids at the same time, so that even if one goes offline, the other will work, keeping the network running without interruption.

Problem 2: Non-redundant UPSs
The UPSs supply power during an outage until the generator can come online; if the UPSs do not turn on immediately at the time of failure, then the network will go down. Even with high quality UPSs, failures are common, so it is critical for there to be multiple redundant UPS units in an “n+1” configuration – all of the necessary UPSs, plus an extra. Functionally, this means that each UPS runs sufficiently below capacity to handle a unit failure without the other units overloading. If there are two UPSs, then each unit must run below 50%, so that if one fails, the other can continue without overloading. If there are three units, each must run below 66%; four units, below 75%. The current load is shown on the display on the front of the UPS.

Problem 3: Transfer Switch Failures
Most colocation facilities use mechanical transfer switches, which are not as dependable as circuit breakers, to switch power from the electric utility to the generator. These switches are one of the most common places the power system fails. Without redundant switches to transfer power at the same point, a transfer switch failure will mean that a network goes down.

Problem 4: Insufficient Generator Capacity
Generators supply power during an outage. To run without overloading, the generator must have capacity to run 1.5 times the total building load. Ideally, a colocation facility should have a redundant backup generator in case the primary generator fails, and the facility should have a process in place for switching power between generators. Having multiple generators is not the same as having redundant generators. One of the most common generator problems with colocation facilities is that the facility started out with a small generator and added generators as it grew. This creates multiple points where power has to be transferred during an outage, increasing the likelihood that a network will go down. As a practical consideration, the generators must be well-maintained, tested monthly, and fully supplied with fuel.

Points to Consider
Fewer than one in twenty colocation facilities have the best power systems in place despite the fact that power systems have the most impact on network uptime. Without well-maintained and redundant components running below capacity at every part of the system, network performance as well as server performance and equipment lifetime will suffer. To make sure that the power system at a colocation facility is robust enough to handle power and equipment failures, two words should be remembered: capacity and redundancy.

Infections and Your Child's Hearing

Ear infections are a highly common part of the childhood experience; in the US, about 75% of children contract at least one before the age of three. Some children are especially prone to this problem due to abnormalities of the Eustachian tube (which connects the inner ear to the throat) or the fact that their immune systems are less developed than average.

These conditions can cause pain, a blocked or "full" feeling in the air, and reduced hearing ability. While all of these symptoms are usually temporary and leave when the illness is treated, severe or multiple infections can have long-term effects.

Types of Ear Infections

While people of any age can suffer from bacteria or viral infections in any part of the ear, these conditions most frequently affect young children. Some of the more common kinds include:

  • Otitis media with effusion - If you have ever heard the term "fluid in the ear," the speaker was actually referred to OME. This condition occurs when fluid begins to collect in the middle ear, the area between the external ear and the cochlea where the small bones (ossicles) that allow hearing are located. OME can be the result of a viral respiratory infection, a bacterial infection, or it may have no particular cause. It generally does not cause any pain or other symptoms. If the fluid builds up for too long, it may become infected and cause permanent damage to the ear drum (the membrane between the ossicles and the cochlea).
  • Acute otitis media - This is a bacterial infection of the middle ear, which may cause swelling and a buildup of pus that could block hearing. It is often accompanied by pain and sometimes a low-level fever. It can generally be treated with antibiotics. In rare, severe cases, permanent damage to the middle ear may result.
  • Viral respiratory infections - In some cases, head colds, the flu, or other respiratory diseases can reach the inner ear through the Eustachian tube. Without prompt treatment, they can affect the cochlea, a small fluid-filled organ that plays a vital role in hearing. The resulting damage may fade over time or may be permanent.

While other kinds of illnesses can affect the ears, these basic categories include most of the more common example.

Protecting Your Child

Remember, the odds of your child losing his or her hearing due to illness are rare; there is no need to panic or become paranoid. However, if your child is showing symptoms of an ear infection - complaining of pain in the ears, frequently rubbing or pulling on the ears, failure to acknowledge speech or other sounds - take him or her to a qualified pediatrician as soon as you can.

Speaking Well In Public Is By No Means Accidental

You might possibly know how jokes can complement your speech. But jokes can also cause your speech to be disastrous. Jokes are both a boon and bane to a speech.

If you are very much in comfort with it, use humor. Just check it first if it fits, serving as a breaker between sections or emphasizing a certain point. A funny and great line, or a comment that is irreverent can help liven up the presentation that you have and will help people to remember the things you have said. Of course any joke must be related to the topic that you have in some way. If you are not sure about something, you could also use a humorous photo or cartoon (with the permission of the photographer or illustrator, of course) in your slides.

Aside from making jokes or humor in your speech, you could improve your public speaking with these other tips.

- You should be able to grab your listeners’ attention even right at the start. That is why it is important that you start correct – confident posture, eloquent speaking style, controlled voice tonality and impact, and a nice, well-thought speech from you.

- The information in your message should be organized clearly and logically, making it easy for your listeners to follow what you are trying to say. Keep things easy and simple. Divide the information into smaller blocks and work from there. Highlight the points that you want your audience to remember.

- Your most crucial point should be the conclusion, bringing the speech to a close. The conclusion sets the tone of the speech, and lets the listeners think about and ponder on the things you have just said. Literary devices, such as quotes, stories, rhetorical questions, or surprising facts, can be used for concluding a speech, although of course, these devices should relate well to the topic of your speech.

- Deliver the conclusion that you have clearly and slowly. Keep eye contact with your listeners as you speak. Smile at them, thanking them for the time that they have given you.

- You should remember all these tips and in due time, you would be surprised to see how these techniques have helped you in your future speaking presentations. Your listeners will eventually understand the information you have given them and respect you for your ability in delivering that information.

The Ups and Downs of Downloadable DS Games

What is a DS?
The DS, or Nintendo DS, is an advanced technology apparatus that plays video games on a duel screen monitor. It is a handheld game system that allows gaming enthusiasts to bring high quality games with them when they are on the road or otherwise unable to play a counsel system. However, with the DS, has become a standalone system that has most gamers itching to try it. It was developed and produced by the Nintendo organization and was released in 2004 in multiple countries including Canada, Japan, the United States and the United Kingdom. The clamshell design is similar to the Game Boy Advance, which was the predecessor to the Nintendo DS, but the Nintendo DS has duel screens with the lower one being designed as a touch screen.

Download DS Games
Though there are some problems with downloadable DS games, they hardly outweigh the possible positives when it comes to these games. Downloadable DS games are games that can be downloaded off the wireless internet that is available for the Nintendo DS. These games are similar to WiiWare games in that they are not usually full length games, but they are still fantastically composed and capable of providing hours of gaming fun. There are even some free downloadable DS games available, but these are rarer than the purchased ones.
A few cons to downloadable DS games include the fact that the download speed is relatively poor. When downloading a game for the DS, it can take many minutes, even hours in some extreme cases. This can be more than a little frustrating for those that want to just play the game.
Another problem is that there is a possibility for an adware infiltration which can potentially do damage to the DS. However, this is only caused by poor usage of the wireless internet system.
These few cons are not enough to make the whole of the system poor. The Nintendo DS has many games online that may be downloaded on the SD card of the system. This can allow numerous downloadable games to be purchased or downloaded on a single system. The downloadable games for the DS are also very fun and very addicting. They can provide just as much if not more fun that any retail game for the DS or a consol alike. Once the games are downloaded there are usually no problems with operation.

A Brief Overview Of Hypnosis

Hypnosis is a state in which conscious sleep is induced. The process of hypnosis involves a hypnotist and a subject (a person on whom Hypnosis is performed). The primary requirement for Hypnosis is it must be accepted by the subject. And then under the effect of Hypnosis, the subject is allegedly more recipient to suggestions and has greater access to his or her memories and emotions.

In a nutshell, hypnosis is sleep of the nervous system. So there is a decrease in the rate of respiration, decrease in blood circulation thus sluggish brain waves. Under the normal consciousness, the brain waves are at Beta wave level. However, with hypnosis, brain waves slow down to alpha waves than to theta waves. Delta waves are brain waves possible in children, & generally no adult can experience the slowing down to delta wave level.

Use of Hypnosis has been applied from the clinic to classroom and police station to any public place. The characteristics of Hypnosis are deep concentration and great relaxation. Hypnosis has a strange reputation. Freud, the father of repression, earlier used to practice hypnosis in therapy; he then stopped the use of hypnosis.

However, hypnosis is still popular. And it is safe.

The Hypnosis can be useful in addictions, pain relief, weight control, fear, quit smoking. However the success of hypnosis depends greatly on acceptance of subject.

Under the effect of Hypnosis the subject gets accessibility to his unconscious and subconscious mind, repressed memories even past life memories. There are lots of misconceptions regarding Hypnosis. It is considers as ‘Black Magic’ by some people. Science simply does not accept it. But Hypnosis exists.

What is Hypnosis?

It is a method that allows you to use your own inner power and hidden capabilities (the capabilities that you even don’t believe you possess). And:

• It can help you in getting freedom from phobias or anxieties.

• It can help you get rid of bad habits like eating unhealthy, smoking etc.

What Hypnosis is not?

• It is not possible even by any expert to take control of your mind using Hypnosis. Your permission- acceptance is must.

• Hypnosis can not make you tell secrets.

• Hypnosis is not dangerous.

• It is not ‘Black-Magic’ or any magic!

You can relate Hypnosis with trance, dream. You can be in trance unconsciously. You can be in trance while just lying on the bed or while traveling through familiar route, while reading a book, while seeing the movie. Hypnosis is similar trance so you need not fear of same. It brings you great relaxation.

Hypnosis can be used for:

1. Pin control
2. Weight control
3. Health eating
4. Helping you stop smoking or other habits
5. Overcoming phobias & anxieties
6. Suppressing pain during medical procedures
7. And more…

Hypnosis comes to your help in case some normal point of view or logical thinking becomes barrier in solving any problem of yours. It frees you from problems you want to while in conscious or subconscious state. Refer to this brief overview of Hypnosis for help to improve the quality of your life and the lives of your family, friends and others.

Has TV helped the Online Psychic Readings Industry ?

Moonwhisper.com as well as many other psychic reading websites has proven that the internet is a viable venue for professional psychics to display their services and provide an obviously very lucrative service to the major players in the online psychic reading industry. With an increasing demand for high quality and affordable psychic advice rising daily smaller websites are finding it easier to break into this niche market and take psychic service promotions to the next level with a complete line of co branded services on the web. You will find that the fires of this rise in interest in the psychic readings niche has been fanned in part by the rise of popular TV shows that have really brought the paranormal and psychic ability into main stream American homes. These shows have really taken a lot of the taboo previously associated with psychics and turned them into heroic figures solving mysteries, crimes as well as helping those in need with their psychic abilities.

You may be asking how has this helped online psychics? The answer is simple we are now more accepting and aware of these paranormal events that have always taken place and we have been desensitized to the previous stigma associated with psychics by the constant barrage of the paranormal on TV. It has now become normal to consult with psychics and to believe that a psychic has the ability to predict the future because we as Americans are so used to it from our exposure on television. May I add it is about time we have learned to accept psychic abilty instead of shy aware from it as the answers we seek could be just a click of a mouse away.

In my opinion we can look at the rise of online psychic popularity in two ways either as a sad cry for help by the public at large who are desperate to find hope anywhere or as a beginning of an age of enlightenment where we are finally at place where we are accepting of a higher spiritual plane and are not afraid to seek advice from a realm that is intangible but nevertheless very real. I find the latter to be a more optimistic and open minded way of thought and I really believe that psychics will no longer be shunned and mocked but be sought after and accepted as a genuine professional service. I see the future of psychic readings to be very bright and something that will continue to grow and blossom as our spirituality becomes more accepting and our rational minds let go and let the psychic mind be released.

NDS Roms

As a Nintendo DS console owner, you know the game library is too much for the average wallet. While game reviews and video footage appease the decision process in order to bring you the best entertainment, nothing quite beats playing the game yourself. Unfortunately DS game demos are nonexistent; your only solution is to download NDS roms. Roms are technically any kind of Read-Only file, but in this context it refers to a game. NDS roms are therefore Nintendo DS games ripped from their cartridges and put up on NDS download roms websites, and Peer to Peer (torrent) websites.

P2P (Peer to Peer) websites are set up so that your NDS roms downloads aren't from the website itself, but rather from its users. Torrents are the common file types for P2P websites as they are optimized for the multiple-user download system, pause and restart easily at any time, and let you upload bits of the data to other users. However there are occasions where you may aid in uploading viruses and other malware - in addition to getting them yourself. Additionally, the torrents themselves could have been tampered with to contain devious objects that will attack your computer or even steal files and important information from cache.

There are of course NDS roms download websites where you can download NDS roms that aren't torrents. Such websites are more reliable as they usually test all roms and cannot be easily interfered with by malicious users. Many sites provide downloads at no cost, but are they reliable? Free websites rely solely on donations, thus are restricted on budget. Fewer employees can be hired to verify roms for malware and reliability. Less powerful servers are purchased leading to common site outages for maintenance and bandwidth issues, causing the administrators to impose users with daily limit of NDS roms downloads or affecting the speed at which they download NDS roms. While the idea of paying a single membership fee on websites seems daunting, that fee goes to keep servers up for a faster and smoother download process than the free alternatives.

Ultimately your decisions to download illegally ripped NDS games, as well as which download method you support, are left up to you. With the safety of both your PC and DS in mind however, paid NDS roms download websites are recommended for the security and reliability they offer.

Hearings aids for home living

There are a number of products which can be purchased to make living at home easier for the hard of hearing. Below are examples of such products.

Wake up alarms
Door lights
Smoke Alarms
Phone signallers

Alarms to wake up the user

It is common practice to remove hearing aids at night prior to sleeping. It may therefore be necessary to have an alarm clock which caters for the heard of hearing. Such alarms use different systems to wake the user including flashing lights, vibration and loud sounds. Depending on the users level of hearing one of the systems may be more suitable than the other. The vibrating system can be placed under the pillow or mattress.

Door Alarms to signal a visitor.

If the user hearing aids are of or turned down then a door alarm will be required. The most common system uses lights to make the user aware of a visitor. Other systems are wireless and use a pager to inform the user that they have a visitor.

Smoke Alarms

Smoke alarms are a very important safety feature that will emit a very loud sound or flashing lights to inform the user of the danger. A single alarm can be connected to several receivers, which can be placed in all the rooms of the house to inform the user wherever they are. Such systems can be installed professionally or purchased in a plug in form.

Telephone Phone Signallers

To inform the user that the telephone is ringing a phone signallers can be installed which operates by a flashing light or very loud ringing. The system is connected to the telephone line and then connecting a light to the signaller, which then flashes when a call is received. Remote systems are also available to transmit the phone signal to other rooms.

Greenhouses - what do you grow in yours?

A garden is like a blank canvas, in which you can put almost anything you want. Whether it’s a place to sit, or things to eat, or just things to look at, you can put them in your garden – an outdoor space of your very own.

The most common thing to do with gardens is to fill them with plants, especially grass lawns, but also bushes and trees. It can be very rewarding to see what you planted only a few months ago starting to take root – and then, over the years, seeing it grow larger and thrive. While it takes care and attention, gardening is a hobby that many people feel they can get into.

Once you’re good enough to plant flowers and bushes and have them survive from season to season, you might even feel brave enough to start growing some of your own food. There are many crops you can grow even in a modestly-sized garden that will produce a lot of food and taste very good when you harvest them – root vegetables like potatoes and carrots work very well, as do berry bushes and apple trees. Food tastes much better when you know you’ve grown it yourself, and you save money too.

If you’re less green fingered than that, you can put other things in your garden apart from plants. It’s not difficult to build a brick barbecue, for example, get some chairs and invite people round. You might like to build a patio or decking where you can sit away from the garden itself but still outdoors. Various kinds of paths and rock features are also popular things to put in a garden, as are decorative ornaments like garden gnomes and model birds. If you’re a fan of fish and water life, you can even dig yourself a pond, and get various animals and plants to put in it.

These are less expensive than digital hearing aids but do not provide the sound quality and features that digital hearing aids do. Digital hearing aids offer a cleaner sound quality than analog models and can be programmed by computer to achieve a high level of adjustment. Digital hearing prices have fallen, hence, more people can afford them.

There are several types of hearing aids on the market. A hearing aid specialist can help you choose the type that suits you best. The closer the hearing aid sits to the eardrum the better the sound will be.

Here are 4 types of hearing aids:

BTE: Behind the Ear

This type fits over the ear and rests behind it. It is typically the least expensive.

ITE: In the Ear

This is the most common type that sits in the ear

ITC: In the Ear Canal

This type fits slightly lower into the ear and is not very noticeable.

CIC: Completely In the Ear Canal

This fits down into the ear canal, requires the most fitting and is the least visible to others.

There are 4 leading manufacturers of hearing aids that have proven to provide superior products. They provide the ultimate in customer service to ensure improved hearing and customer satisfaction.

Personal Injury

Personal Injury. Law suits for personal injury are filed by people injured by the irresponsible act of another. The injuries, either physical or emotional, can occur from different methods or varieties of conduct. The most frequent classes of harm include slip and falls, auto accidents, intentional attacks (assaults), physician or hospital malpractice, and product liability. Commonly, the goal of a personal injury claim is to ascertain responsibility and force the harming party to compensate the injured claimant for the damages substained. If you or a loved one has been injured by the careless actions of another, contact The Law Offices of Samuel W. Bearman in Pensacola, Florida, right away to learn how your rights are preserved and protected.

Damages. Personal injury attorneys help ensure their clients get the reimbursement to which they are entitled by law. Some of the things for which injured parties are lawfully due damages include lost wages, medical expenditures – past and future, money for both physical and emotional pain and suffering, and damages for physical disfigurement. On occasion, a close relatives of the injured person, such as his or her spouse, maybe eligible for damages, as well. These awards to relatives are often known as loss of consortium damages, which is meant to reimburse the family for the loss of the injured or deceased individual's services and companionship.

Other damages that may be granted, based on the state laws and regulations wherever the legal action is introduced and the details of the unique case, include enjoyment damages, which are granted to compensate the claimant for the deprivation of enjoyment of activities that she or he once took part in in but can no longer do so as a end result of the traumas suffered. Punitive damages may be granted for the defendant’s acts if they were especially egregious and it is decided that the defendant should be disciplined by having to pay an amount of money over the plaintiff’s specific damages. Punitive damage awards act to prevent others from partaking in comparable harmful conduct.

Legal Causation. Not each and every injured individual is entitled to damages for the personal injury he or she receives. Aside from the harm, the claimant will have to also prove, through convincing and appropriate facts, that the defendant is lawfully accountable for his or her injuries. The plaintiff is to provide evidence of causation both in terms of authentic causation and proximate (legal) causation. Actual causation is decided by actual cause and effect. Legal causation is proven by the the details and circumstances of the case.

In certain injury cases, legal causation might be proven if the claimant exhibits that the defendant acted deliberately. This means that the person purposely or actively harmed the plaintiff or recognized that his or her conduct produced a significant likelihood that damage would result.

Negligence and Strict Liability. There are additional injury claims which usually are dependent on a looser notion of fault called negligence. Under this principle, a person is held responsible for the outcomes of his action, or omission, when an ordinary person in the same situation should anticipate that the conduct would likely create an unreasonable threat of damage to others. Still other kinds of personal claims are established on stringent liability, a no-fault system under which liability can be founded irrespective of the flawed acts of the parties, including the wounded. Strict liability often is applicable in products liability cases, as when a company or vendor puts a substandard product or service into the hands of individuals who are then harmed by the product.

Defenses to Personal Injury Claims. In specific fact situations, another's conduct, while in question, may not necessarily be “actionable.” If, for example, the injured purposefully and willfully chose to encounter a recognized risk to safety, then he or she has assumed the possibility of injury and therefore the defendant is not held liable. The presumption of the risk theory may apply, for instance, in a engaged in a friendly sport of tackle football in which another participant broke his leg; in such a situation, the plaintiff most probably would be powerless to recover for his wounds due to the fact he recognized the dangers inherent in the activity and voluntarily chose to face them.

Possible defenses to personal injury suits consist of:

Statute of limitations. Statutes of limitations are laws and regulations establishing the time period within which the suit must commence.
Sovereign immunity. Sovereign immunity safeguards certain government authorities from civil legal responsibility for their official acts.
Intentional misuse. Injuries caused by a claimant's improper use of a product produces a defense to legal responsibility in a products liability situation
Contributory or comparative negligence. Contributory or comparative negligence is wherever the one’s own conduct triggered or contributed to his or her injuries

A personal injury lawyer can clarify these issues and decide whether they apply to a specific case.
Personal injury claims often demand a lawyer’s knowledge and evaluation of all the details and circumstances to ascertain the defendant's legal liability for injuries caused. A personal injury attorney at The Law Offices of Samuel W. Bearman in Pensacola, Florida will evaluate the specifics of your case and ascertain merit and validity of your claim, when you must act to safeguard your rights, the damages availble, and whether you may be eligible to initial financial benefits even before resolution or your claim. Furthermore, in many personal injury cases, you will owe absolutely no legal expenses until the accused pays the damage award.

Stairlifts – A Guide For The Disabled And Elderly

Many elderly people face a difficult choice in their later years, as their ability to tackle the stairs in their houses becomes more difficult. Do they sell the houses they love and move into a bungalow or sheltered accommodation or do they convert their dining room to a bedroom and live downstairs, assuming they have a bathroom on the ground floor. Of course, there is a third option, which is to provide safe and secure access to their upstairs facilities by using installing a stairlift.

The purchase of a stairlift is quite a daunting prospect since it is something that you have probably never done before and will never do again. What should you look for in a stairlift and do you understand all of the facilities available and which ones are most important to you? There is also the cost factor, how much do you pay to get peace of mind and should you consider second-hand or reconditioned stairlifts.

Firstly, my recommendation is that whether you buy new or reconditioned that you go to a reputable supplier who can advise you on all of the issues, especially installation. If someone has passed away in you locality and their stairlift is for sale cheaply, it is tempting to buy it. However, remember that there are strict safety standards to adhere to, and that installation may not be straight forward. Just consider the tracking for a moment, is it a straight run, is it on the same side of the stairs, are the stairs the same dimensions, or is the tracking actually curved. With stairlifts you are not just buying a mobility product, you are also buying peace of mind. Make sure you deal with suppliers who have years of experience in advising customers and installing their products.

When considering actually what type of stairlift you require, most people opt for the seated version of the product although other types are available including a standing stairlift and one with a large platform to accommodate a wheelchair. For the rest of the article we will consider the most common type, the seated stairlift.

Seated Stairlift
These tend to be the most common type used in a domestic setting. The majority of users are able to walk, but find it difficult to negotiate the stairs. The person must be able to sit safely on the seat during transit and transfer on and off at the top and bottom of the stairs. A swivel seat and lift-up armrests will make transfers onto and off the seat easier.

The swivel seat can be manually or electrically operated. It is preferable that the user can transfer independently; however, in some situations it may be possible for the carer to carry out an assisted transfer in conjunction with a piece of small handling equipment. The ability of the carer to transfer the user at the top of the stairs should be very carefully considered and avoided if at all possible.

Seating Position
There is a choice of fixed seats, fold-down seats, perching seats and seats which slide forward to assist access in and out of the lift. Some companies will fix the seat at the most appropriate height for the user.

Some of questions you should consider prior to purchase are:

• Will the standard seat provided be the correct size for the user?

• Will the user need a special seat for a child or a harness for a more severely disabled child? A seat unit or moulded seating system will have to be removed before the seat can be folded.

• Which direction will the user need to face? Most seats face sideways, but if the user has a stiff knee he/she may need to face forwards to give them more room.

Installation Design Considerations

If your staircase has a sub-landing at the top, with a few steps to the left or right, most companies can fit a manual or motorised folding platform which bridges the gap between the top of the stairlift and the landing, although the number of stairs and the amount of available headroom will need to be taken into consideration. This allows the user to get off the stairlift and walk straight onto the landing, avoiding the need to have a curved or two straight stairlifts installed.

Some people may find the platforms unnerving as they are quite high up over the staircase. If the track for the stairlift cannot continue beyond the bottom or top step of the staircase, usually because it will obstruct a door, some companies can provide a fold-up, hinged rail to overcome this problem. Can other members of the household easily use the stairway when the lift is folded against the wall?

How will the stairlift be controlled and powered

Will the user be able to operate the standard controls, usually push button controls sited on the end of the armrest, or is an alternative method required, for example joystick or toggle controls? Will the controls need to be sited in another position? Wander leads allow the user to operate the controls from the most comfortable position or a carer to operate the lift independently. Remote controls, for a carer to operate, are also available from some companies. Lifts are available with an audible signal to alert blind and partially sighted users that the lift is at the top or the bottom of the track.

Straight stairlifts are available with a battery backup option in case of power failures. Most standard straight stairlifts are powered from the mains. Most curved stairlifts run from rechargeable batteries, which are continually topped up from charging points at the top and the bottom of the stairs. This needs accurate re-siting at the charging point because of a warning bleep if it is in the wrong place.

Maintaining your stairlift

Most major companies guarantee their stairlifts for one year. After this it is recommended that they are inspected every six months and serviced annually. Some companies offer an emergency call-out facility. However, check that they have fully trained service engineers on call 24 hours per day. On completion of your one year warranty most companies will offer to re-guarantee the lift for a charge. It is advisable to check these charges before purchasing.

So, in summary, my advice is to consider all of the points above and then contact a reputable supplier of stairlifts and go and discuss your requirements with them. Most have expert staff on hand to answer your technical queries and build a tailor made solution to fit your needs. Products to make someone more mobile are often bought by, or for, the vulnerable or infirm - take the risk out of the purchase and talk to experienced care advisors that have been specially trained to understand their customer's needs and requirements.

Catchalotto – a new approach to win the UK National Lottery jackpot

It’s amazing how many people play the UK National Lottery without realising their odds of winning. And when some do find out (odds are 1 in 13,983,816), they do not really comprehend how incredibly miniscule the odds of winning are.

So in my experience, it’s better to relate those odds to some real-life situations. For instance, if you were told that the chances of having a SUCCESSFUL forthcoming surgery is 0.000072% (not even 1%!!!), would you go ahead with it? Probably not. So why play the lottery if your chances of winning are 0.0000072%?!

How about going to the bookies and asking to place a bet on a horse with odds of 1 to 13,983,816?! I did and I don’t think the bookie ever laughed so much in his entire life as he laughed then. But what’s so funny? Millions of people play the lottery each week at exactly the same odds!

Some people play the same combination week in week out. Statistically, they could wait 134,460 years for their combination to come up (assuming they enter their combination for both draws). If turtles could play, even they would stand little chances of witnessing their big win.

So why do people play? Well, first of all, it’s the financial freedom that can be attained if they win that jackpot. After all, they only have to spend ?1 to “be in it to win it”. Secondly, this feeling is intensified by watching other lottery winners opening their bottle of champagne, be it on TV, or newspaper, or the Internet. In psychology, it’s called the Availability Heuristic, i.e. most people assess the likelihood of an event based on how often they hear about it happening. “If they can win it, why can’t I, right?” and based on that, we go and buy a lottery ticket.

Don’t get me wrong, I play the lottery myself. I do not want to discourage you, in any way, in playing. My aim is to let you know of a better way to play the lottery. It’s an old concept of syndication or pooling, as Americans call it, with a new sparkle, called Lottorino, added to it.

Before you read any further, ask yourself this question “What would you rather – win 100% of nothing or small % of a substantial amount?” If it’s the latter, than you’re suited for CATCHALOTTO.

Catchalotto approaches lottery at a slightly different angle. The aim is to increase the odds of winning via

a) playing more unique combinations (removing duplications) AND
b) not playing combinations that appear to have some bias within them (like 1-2-3-4-5-6)

You all heard of a concept “syndicate”. Quite a few lottery tickets purchased today belong to some sort of syndicate. Whether it is a syndicate formed amongst friends, or work collegues, or family, or a mix of all, or a syndicate formed online with similar minded individuals. According to Camelot, 25% of jackpot wins belong to syndicates. So there you have it, syndicates do work. If you have been playing lottery for sometime now and not won much, then maybe it’s about time for you to try and join a syndicate and test the ground for yourself?

With Catchalotto you can join any available syndicate. You can see all the information online, it’s all interactive. You know exactly who played within your chosen syndicate, what combinations have been played, what syndicates won, how much it won and much more.

As per a) above, each combination submitted to a Catchalotto syndicate is verified in that it has not already been played within that syndicate. In the older days when Camelot used to release certain information about combinations played, apparently there were around 10,000 tickets purchased with the same combination - 1-2-3-4-5-6! Catchalotto’s thinking is why bet on the same horse twice? Instead of playing the same combination, you will be asked to play a different combination thereby improving syndicate’s chances of winning! If 10,000 different combinations played, the odds of winning become 1 to 1,398!

As per b) above, Lottorino Scoring Engine has been developed in order to sieve out combinations that appear to have some pattern within them. Combinations like 1-2-3-4-5-6 or 7-14-21-28-35-42 (all divisible by 7) are played by many, as combinations with all numbers below 31 (people tend to choose their and their relatives birthdays). If such combinations do come up, the jackpot will be split into so many parts, that you probably regret that you’d won this time round. Lottorino has been programmed so as to recognise patterns like that. When you submit your combination into a syndicate, Lottorino will quickly access your combination and let you know how random your combination appears to be.

Lottorino also includes certain filters that help improve the odds further. There has been written a lot of literature about lottery analysis. It is believed that certain combinations are less probable to be drawn. Now then, I know some people would say at this point that any combination stands the same chances of being drawn. Yes, it’s true - it’s possible for any combination to be drawn at any future lottery draw. However, certain combinations are less probable to come up. Notice the different words here – possibility versus probability.

Did you know that the same combination has never been drawn again in the UK National Lottery? Why play such combinations then? Why bet on the horse that is more likely to lose? If you look at Lottorino’s scores of all officially drawn combinations in the past, you would see that some do appear to have a low Lottorino score (i.e. Lottorino would have advised not to play it), but 95% of time, Lottorino score is 50% or above (i.e. a recommended advisable limit). So 95% of time, the odds would have been indeed improved by Lottorino.

If you want to build a clearer picture of Lottorino, please visit Catchalotto site and view Tutorial 1 (duration: under 2 minutes). You can see Lottorino at work there.

To sum up, it’s difficult to say by how much the odds of winning the jackpot improve. My personal guesstimate, backed by lottery analysts/mathematicians is with Catchalotto the odds of winning are 1 to 2,000,000, i.e. 7 times better! 7 is a magic number, wouldn’t you agree? Let’s just hope Catchalotto will perform its magic soon and prove itself for what it believes in.
